South Gate 3, Sylmar 0--Somewhere hearts are happy. Somewhere people shout. But there is no joy in Sylmar (7-4), mighty Casey and the Spartans have been knocked out.
A 27-yard field goal by Jaime Cervantes in the second quarter was all South Gate needed in a 3-A Division quarterfinal at South Gate.
Sylmar junior running back Jerome Casey was limited to 91 yards in 15 carries. South Gate (12-0) held the Spartans to 4 first downs and 113 yards.
