Julio Cesar Chavez’s manager says the fighter has broken relations with promoter Don King, charging that King took more than half of Chavez’s latest purse, according to Esto, the Mexico City sports daily.
Chavez beat Jose Luis Ramirez last month to unify the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Assn. lightweight titles in a King-promoted bout in Las Vegas.
Chavez’s purse was $800,000, but King took out more than $500,000 in training and other expenses, Esto quoted Angel Gutierrez, Chavez’s promoter in Mexico, as saying.
