Prep Roundup : Tustin Comes From Behind to Beat Costa Mesa, 50-47

Wanda Sequiera made both ends of a 1-and-1 free-throw situation with 10 seconds left to clinch Tustin High School’s 50-47 victory over Costa Mesa Thursday in a consolation semifinal of the Brea-Olinda girls’ basketball tournament.
Sequiera finished with 10 points. Teresa Perkins scored 17, including seven in the fourth quarter as Tustin (5-2) overcame a five-point deficit with 6 minutes left.
In other Brea-Olinda tournament games:
Gahr 51, Foothill 29--Kristy Walker scored 8 points in a losing effort for Foothill (2-3). Gahr dominated the quarterfinal, leading, 23-14, at halftime.
In the Orange Lutheran girls’ basketball tournament:
Connelly 45, LaVerne Lutheran 18--Christa Tomacheski scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds and 7 assists for Connelly (4-2) in the first round.
Rosary 58, Eastside Catholic 50--Cari Garcia, a senior guard, scored 22 points to advance Rosary into a semifinal game against Orange Lutheran.
Orange Lutheran 45, Orange Lutheran JV 21--Forced to play its own junior varsity when Newport Christian dropped out of the tournament, the Lancers (3-2) eased into the semifinals behind DeeDee Oyama’s 12 points.
In the Savanna girls’ basketball tournament:
University 32, La Habra 31--Denise Gandara scored 15 points and collected 11 rebounds to lead University (6-2) in a consolation-round game.
Norco 72, Fullerton 41--Norco dominated, leading, 41-8, at halftime. Bobbie White scored 27 to lead all scorers for Norco (4-4).
In Express League girls’ basketball:
Pioneer 41, Claremont 26--Amy Coulson scored 16 points to lead Pioneer (2-0) over Claremont (1-1).
In the Valley Christian tournament:
Woodbridge 48, Pius X 41--Lisa Wehren and Gina Krouse scored 15 points each for Woodbridge (6-1) in the first round.
In the Santa Ana Valley girls’ basketball tournament:
La Quinta 47, Santa Ana Valley 28--Amy Jalewalie had 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals to lead La Quinta in the opening round.
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Marina 93, El Modena 26--Three players scored in double figures for Marina (6-1). Melisa Sortino led all scorers with 29 points. Christa Yorke added 19 and Lisa Orosco had 14. Allison Krause had 10 assists for the Vikings. El Modena is 0-3.
Laguna Hills 34, Pacifica 21--Marlo Smith scored 10 points to lead visiting Laguna Hills (1-4).
Villa Park 70, Magnolia 35--Stacy Shimoda, Susannah Thrasher and Lou Smithson scored 12 points each for host Villa Park (4-2).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Orange 3, Loara 1--Stacy Long scored 2 goals and Jenny Vosberg 1 for host Orange (5-0-1).
Marina 2, Hewport Harbor 0--Melanie Frakes and Julie Muche scored for host Marina (5-1-1).
