LOCAL : Two L.A. Commissioners Quitting After Disclosures of Absenteeism
- Share via
Two city commissioners will resign from assignments on the Transportation and Social Services commissions because they have been unable to attend meetings regularly, Deputy Mayor Mike Gage said today.
Other truant commissioners also may resign, Gage said. About 15 of about 200 commissioners appointed by Mayor Tom Bradley have missed half or more of their meetings recently, he said. He refused to identify two commissioners who told him they will resign soon.
The absenteeism came to light after the resignation of former Housing Authority Board Chairman Alvin Greene, who missed six months of meetings before he resigned last week.
