An 18-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in Carlsbad after police officers discovered what they believe is 35 pounds of methamphetamine in his car.
Michael B. Powell of Oceanside was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, said Jim Divis, a police spokesman. He said officers stopped Powell for a traffic violation at Poinsettia Lane and Avenida Encinas shortly after 2 a.m.
When officers inspected Powell’s car, they discovered a package of what appeared to be methamphetamine, police said, estimating its street value at $350,000.
