Blaming the ‘Iron Triangle’
To err is Reagan. For the umpteenth time he is not responsible for his actions or inactions. His latest theory is the Iron Triangle. It’s those guys that are responsible for our budget deficits. Spend-thrift congresses and past Presidents are to blame. As Johnny Carson said the other night, the Iron Triangle is the wrong shape. It should be the Pentagon.
Reagan’s aw-shucks style has shielded him well for eight years. His hundreds of misstatements have shown his standard operating procedure to be a blend of ignorance, amnesia and dissembling. President-elect George Bush will be a breath of fresh air.
