Ventura Seeking Elusive Delta Tournament Title

Ventura College will try to improve on its 13-2 record this week in the Delta basketball tournament at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. The Pirates have placed second in the tournament in each of the past 2 years.

Ventura has been off since Dec. 7, when the Pirates rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat L. A. City College, 88-85. Freshman Reggie Betton, Ventura’s leading scorer, paced the win.

The Pirates, who will be playing in their fourth tournament of the season, already have won the Cypress and Ventura tournaments. Ventura does not return home until Jan. 7, when it will play host to Oxnard.
