USC Women Set Their Sights on No. 8 Maryland

Coming off of its biggest victory of the season, the USC women’s basketball team will play host to 8th-ranked Maryland tonight at 7:30 at Loyola Marymount.
Wednesday night, the Trojans (4-4) defeated No. 13 Texas, 83-81, at Cal State Fullerton behind the play of seniors Karon Howell (22 points, including 4 of 6 three-pointers) and Cherie Nelson (20 points and 8 rebounds).
Maryland (6-1) also is coming off a big victory, rallying to beat Cal State Long Beach Tuesday night, 76-72. The Terrapins are led by guard Deanna Tate, who scored 31 points against Long Beach, and 1988 Olympian Vicki Bullet.
The UCLA women’s basketball team will try to end its 3-game losing streak tonight when it plays host to Ohio State at 5:15 in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (3-5) are led by freshman center Molly Tideback, who is averaging 13.5 points per game. The Buckeyes (6-3) are led by senior guard Lisa Cline, who is averaging 21.5 points a game.
