Digital Equipment’s second-quarter net income fell 15% from the year-ago period to $280 million. Revenue rose to $3.2 billion, up 14%. The Maynard, Mass., firm, which is the nation’s second-largest computer maker, said the results were in part because of a period of heavy investment in new programs and business expansion and a 28% revenue gain from international business.
