In reference to Roselle M. Lewis’ “Part-Time Faculty, Students Alike Are Cheated at Community Colleges,” Op-Ed Page, April 21:
As long as applicants for the Los Angeles Community College District are never assigned a civil service score, part-time instructors will continue to be discriminated against.
Longtime part-time faculty with many valuable years of experience are ignored when full-time positions become available and are never told of such openings.
I am a 17-year part-time veteran teacher of the Los Angeles Community College District and I know my second-class status!
