The Previn-Fleischmann Controversy

I hope Fleischmann has the good grace to step down. With his unerring good taste, perhaps he will realize the untenable nature of the position in which the orchestra has been put. Can you imagine any first-rank conductor who would accept the musical directorship under the present conditions?
Mr. Fleischmann, you may be the best, but you are not the only orchestra manager in the world.
