SAN FRANCISCO — Transcisco Industries Inc. said it has signed leases of 514 tank cars to four petroleum refineries in the Soviet Union.
The leases range from five to seven years.
Transcisco will make the “uni-temp” heating systems for the tank cars at its Topeka, Kan., plant and have them shipped to Finland for insertion into Soviet tank cars later in the year.
Transcisco also is a 20% owner of Sovfinamtrans, which is the only railroad car leasing company in the Soviet Union. Other partners in the joint venture are the Soviet Ministry of Rail and Soviet Ministry of Petrochemicals, as well as the HAKA Group, a Finnish construction and engineering company.
