The New York Yankees sent outfielder Deion Sanders to triple-A Columbus of the International League after sweeping a doubleheader from Boston.
Sanders, the Atlanta Falcons’ No. 1 draft choice and an All-American cornerback from Florida State, will continue negotiations with the NFL team this week.
“I hope to get the contract solved with the Falcons, we’ll see how far apart we are,” Sanders said of his expected meeting today with Atlanta officials.
In nine games with the Yankees after being called up from double-A, Sanders was seven-for-33 (.212) with one home run and three RBIs.
