A two-alarm fire destroyed a single-family home and damaged a nearby apartment complex Saturday in East San Diego.
About 50 firefighters responded to a call shortly after 3 p.m. to a residence in the 4000 block of Central Avenue. On arrival, they found the house engulfed in flames. The heat was so intense that the fire spread to the apartment building next door.
No one was hurt except for a firefighter who suffered a foot injury.
The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating the cause of the blaze.
The total amount of damage was not known Saturday.
