Kennedy’s Hansell Signs With Red Sox

Greg Hansell, The Times’ Orange County player of the year in baseball, said he has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox.
Hansell will report Thursday to Winter Haven, Fla., the club’s Class-A team in the Florida State League.
Hansell, who helped lead Kennedy High School to the Southern Section 3-A baseball championship, had 123 strikeouts in 96 innings, a 13-1 record and a 1.24 earned-run average.
Hansell had signed a national letter of intent to play football at Nevada Reno in the fall.
