Ayrton Senna of Brazil overcame a throat infection and engine problems with his McLaren to speed to the pole position for the British Grand Prix in 1 miniute 9.099 seconds during the final qualifying session at Silverstone, England.
Teammate Alain Prost of France posted the second-fastest time of 1:09.855 to give McLaren both front-row spots.
