Family Planning Funds Vetoed

Perhaps the governor does not live in the same California that I do, or his budget might reflect a “kinder, gentler” California. He really should get out more among his people.
I take daily 5-mile walks around Glendale and Los Angeles. I see thousands of homeless mentally ill talking to themselves every week! In fact, in the last few months I have made note of the vast numbers who seem to be choking the streets.
Perhaps the mentally ill should be mobilized to Deukmejian’s Long Beach neighborhood. Then the governor might catch a glimpse of the problem firsthand when his limousine slows to enter his driveway.
He says he is saving over a billion dollars in his budget for a rainy day. Well, governor, when it comes to the mental health budget in Los Angeles County, which has been cut to shreds over the last decade, it is torrential downpour time.
