WORLD : 5 East Germans Escape to West

BONN — Five East Germans, including the second soldier in 10 days, fled today to West Germany, officials reported.
A 20-year-old East German border guard, in uniform but unarmed, climbed across border fortifications into the West German state of Lower Saxony, the Hanover border command said.
The guard, the second East German soldier in 10 days to make it to Lower Saxony, cited political reasons for his escape.
