Culver City : Council Votes Itself a Raise

The Culver City Council on Monday voted 4 to 1 to give itself a 5% raise, the maximum allowed under the California Government Code.
Starting next May, the monthly stipend for council members will increase from $440 to $462. Councilman Jim Boulgarides voted against the raise.
The government code allows a 5% raise for each calendar year since the last increase, but prohibits its going into effect until after the next election, according to a staff report. The next election will be in April.
The council’s last raise was in 1988, the report stated.
