Tyger, Duke to Build Co-Generation Plant

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Tyger Construction Co., in a joint venture with Duke Engineering & Services Inc., on Tuesday announced the award of a $116-million contract to design and build a 128-megawatt co-generation power plant near Clarksville, Va.
Under the terms of the contract, Tyger Construction and Duke Engineering, an affiliate of Duke Power Co. with headquarters in Charlotte, will build the facility as a turnkey project. Tyger will be general contractor, sharing procurement responsibilities with Duke Engineering. Duke will be responsible for overall project management and design through the start-up of the coal-fired facility.
