A race car driver from Valencia survived a crash on Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats while traveling at 240 m.p.h. and will be able to leave the hospital soon, hospital officials said.
Race officials said Randy Scoville, 43, was trying to break a land-speed record on the salt flats Wednesday when his Ford roadster was picked up by turbulent air and rolled over several times. Scoville was treated for fractures of his ribs, wrist and hand at the the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City.
