WORLD IN BRIEF : CHINA : Labor Camps Called ‘Miracle on Earth’

China said that its labor and re-education camps were a “miracle on earth” where more than 2 million people were sent in the last decade and most were cured of their criminal ways. The Legal Daily said the camp system was widely admired at home and abroad for its success in rehabilitating prisoners, although it admitted that camps were attacked during political unrest this year. China has a vast network of labor and re-education camps to hold common and political prisoners.
