CALCUTTA, India — Mother Teresa left the hospital Saturday, five weeks after suffering a heart attack, and headed straight for the headquarters of her Missionaries of Charity, despite doctors’ advice to slow down.
The Yugoslav-born Mother Teresa “is still very weak. She’s going to need rest for quite some time,” said Dr. Ashim Bardhan of Woodlands Hospital.
The 79-year-old nun won the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to help the poor.
She was hospitalized Sept. 5 with a high fever, and she suffered a heart attack three days later.
