NATION IN BRIEF : OHIO : Four Are Injured in Crash of Trains

An Amtrak train carrying about 220 passengers broadsided a CSX freight train near Upper Sandusky, Ohio, injuring four people. Two Amtrak crew members remained hospitalized. An Amtrak engineer and a 76-year-old passenger were treated and released. The 116-car freight train carried carbolic acid, but none of the cargo spilled, a CSX Transportation spokeswoman said. The accident occurred when the Amtrak’s Broadway Limited train hit the freight train at a crossing, an Amtrak spokeswoman said. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
