LA PALMA — Armed bandits shot a restaurant employee and then locked him and the manager in a walk-in freezer before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said Thursday.
The incident occurred Wednesday night after the Seafood Show Restaurant, on Centerpointe Drive, had closed for the day. Police said the bandits, who wore hooded sweat shirts, entered the restaurant around 11.45 p.m.
During the ordeal, one bandit shot dishwasher Ismael Castillo Aguillon, 20, of La Palma, in the back.
After grabbing some money, the robbers pushed the bleeding Aguillon and manager Jerome Albert Aguirre into a walk-in freezer and fled, police said. The two restaurant employees, however, were able to escape within minutes. Police and paramedics took Aguillon to the La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound and released.
