The parent of the Alpha Beta and Lucky grocery chains, said its third-quarter profit declined about 9% from a year ago to $18.8 million. Sales rose 6.6% to $5.27 billion. Operating profit increased 24.6%. The Salt Lake City-based firm’s profit figures included gains on the sale of assets in both comparable quarters and income from over-funding in a terminated pension fund as well as other items, the company added.
