Pollution District Sued Over Vernon Incinerator: Security Environmental Systems Inc. filed suit in federal court in Los Angeles on Tuesday, saying the South Coast Air Quality Management District unfairly canceled the company’s permits for a planned $30-million hazardous waste incinerator in Vernon. The company said pressure from environmental groups caused the agency to alter its policy and force Security Environmental to begin a four-year permit process over again. The agency had no comment.
