U.S. Farm Exports Rise 12%: U.S. farmers, buoyed by heavy demand for grain and meat, exported $39.65 billion in agricultural products in fiscal 1989, a 12% increase, the government said. Preliminary figures from the Agriculture Department also showed record-high farm imports of $21.48 billion. Nonetheless, the figures showed the United States notching an agricultural trade surplus of $18.2 billion, up $3.9 billion from a year earlier.
