Sharp Shooting Sparks Cypress Past Glendale in Tournament

Cypress College shot 71% from the field and defeated Compton, 87-65, in a championship semifinal game of the Glendale College men’s basketball tournament Friday at Glendale.
The Chargers made 35 of 49 shots from the field and 13 of 16 free throws. Sophomore forward Andre Lamoureux, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds, was 10 of 13 from the field.
Forward Eric Pauley scored 14 points on seven-of-nine shooting. He also had nine assists and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Brian Kenney had 14 points and was six of seven from the field.
Freshman guard Chris Bowen scored 10 points and had eight assists. He was four of four from the field.
Sophomore guard Grayle Humphrey, who scored nine points and made six of six free throws Friday, now has made 21 consecutive free throws and is 33 of 36 for the season.
Cypress is 10-1; Compton is 10-4.
Cypress plays host Glendale at 7 tonight in the championship game. Glendale defeated L.A. Harbor, 79-60, to advance to the title game.
