The Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross has established a tracing service to help local residents track down family members in Romania, Red Cross officials announced Tuesday.
“People who have not been able to reach immediate family members in Romania can come in and submit an inquiry, which we will route to the International Red Cross,” said Sylvia Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Red Cross chapter.
Two branches of the local chapter will accept inquiries Wednesday and Thursday, Stewart said.
The West County Service Center, at 16882 Gothard St., Huntington Beach, will be open both days from 3 to 8 p.m., and the chapter’s headquarters, at 601 N. Golden Circle, Santa Ana, will take inquiries from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening appointments at the Santa Ana facility are available by calling (714) 835-5381.
Stewart said family members should bring the most current address and phone number available for relatives in Romania.
Only those who have had contact with relatives in the last 15 months should apply.
