A motorcyclist died Thursday when he collided with a pickup truck on Euclid Avenue, police said. The driver of the pickup fled and was being sought by police.
The two vehicles were southbound in the 3500 block of Euclid when they collided at 2:01 p.m. The victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was attempting to pass the older-model, tan pickup when the truck turned left, witnesses told police. The impact threw the victim, a 21-year-old San Diego man, from his motorcycle and into a parked car.
He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital.
The driver of the truck, an elderly woman, stopped momentarily, then drove east on Wightman Street, police said.
