A 17-year-old boy convicted of first-degree murder was ordered Thursday to undergo a diagnostic study at the California Youth Authority before sentencing.
DeShawn Stallsworth, who had been certified by Juvenile Court to be tried as an adult, will be sentenced in San Diego Superior Court within 90 days after the study is finished.
Stallsworth pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the Aug. 8 slaying of Armando Bracamontes, 16, who was shot in the head in a gang-related incident on Wunderlin Avenue in San Diego.
Stallsworth could be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years to life in state prison.
