Johnny Rodgers, a former Heisman Trophy winner, and a Nebraska-based sports marketing firm are seeking appeal hearings after fines levied against them were announced for their allegedly making illegal contact with University of Houston quarterback Andre Ware.
The hearings were requested in letters to the Texas secretary of state by both Rodgers, star running back for the University of Nebraska in the early 1970s, and Total Economic Athletic Management of America Inc., based in Lincoln, Neb.
Rodgers and TEAM America last month were slapped with $10,000 fines after Secretary of State George Bayoud found that they had violated the state’s athlete-agent law.
