SAN CLEMENTE : Methane Gas Burner Topic of Workshop
- Share via
Plans to install a methane gas burner at the Prima Deshecha Landfill off Ortega Highway are expected to come under fire by some residents attending tonight’s public workshop on the project.
The 7 p.m. workshop by county officials is being held at the San Clemente Community Center, 100 Avenida del Mar.
The Forster Ranch Homeowners’ Assn. has circulated a letter in opposition to the incinerator because plans show smokestacks rising as high as 85 feet from the rolling countryside that borders several homes on the edge of the community in northeast San Clemente.
Public comments at the workshop will be used in response to a recently completed study on how the project would affect the environment.
The county-operated landfill abuts the southeastern edge of San Juan Capistrano and the northeastern edge of San Clemente.
