Sierra Madre : 63 Buildings on Quake List
- Share via
The city building inspector has identified 63 unreinforced masonry buildings in need of earthquake safety repairs--and that figure represents nearly all of the small city’s main non-residential buildings.
They include 21 retail stores, 18 office buildings, seven restaurants, three garages, the Passionist Fathers monastery, four churches, two banks, five markets, and two other combination retail and office buildings.
The buildings must meet earthquake safety standards within three years under an ordinance adopted Tuesday by the City Council.
