A Canoga Park woman has given birth to the first triplets born at Olive View Medical Center since the county hospital’s childbirth unit opened in November, 1987, officials at the Sylmar facility reported.
The triplets were the first children for Raphael Arroyo and Maria Martinez of Canoga Park, said neonatal intensive care nurse Cherrie Dodds.
She said the two girls and one boy were delivered by Cesarean section one minute apart Tuesday. The children were born about seven weeks prematurely and were placed in incubators.
She said two of the children weighed more than four pounds, the third more than three pounds. No serious health problems were reported. “They’re doing fabulously,” Dodds said.
