CHINA CRUSADE: Despite the Chinese government’s decision to lift martial law (A3), UC Irvine political science professor Mark P. Petracca has no plans to stop bombarding newspapers, magazines and academic journals with condemnations of U.S. China policy after the Tian An Men crackdown. . . . Petracca, whose specialty is comparative American politics, taught at Beijing University in 1987 and has been receiving a steady stream of anguished letters from former students. He asks: “How can we let something like this--that is such a magnificent event with such a disastrous consequence--happen without bearing witness to it?”
