PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Sailors Take 40 shots in 2-1 Victory

Newport Harbor outshot Corona del Mar, 40-10, during a 2-1 Sea View League boys’ soccer victory Wednesday. CdM goalie Chris Connelly made 23 saves. Alex Opoulos and David Pattison scored for the Sailors (13-3-1,1-0).
In another Sea View Match:
Estancia 3, Saddleback 0--Gary Burrows, Carlos Alcazar and Sergio Suarez scored to lead host Estancia (4-6-1, 1-0).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 3, Woodbridge 2--Laguna Hills trailed, 2-0, at halftime, but Brian Slayback, Chris Kannenberg and Juan Strutton scored to lift the Hawks (12-3, 5-1).
Orange 2, Laguna Beach 1--Juan Viveros and Ricky Heimer each had a goal for Orange (9-0-2, 6-0-2).
Magnolia 3, Savanna 2--Jaime Reyes had two goals and Thuan Pham had one Wednesday to lead the Magnolia (3-5-2, 1-0). Savanna Savanna (2-9,0-1) was outshot 27-7.
Brea-Olinda 2, Anaheim 0--Returning all-league goalie Jeff Bettencourt had nine saves and forward Jeff Ortiz and halfback Martin Wall scored goals as host Brea-Olinda (6-6-1) won its league opener.
In the Century League:
Santa Ana Valley 2, Canyon 1--Jose Mendoza and Marcelino Barriga scored for host Santa Ana Valley (1-1-7, 1-0). Canyon is 7-6-1, 0-1.
Foothill 3, Villa Park 2--Omar Masri , Mark Heinisch and Matt Pashli scored to lead Foothill (14-2-1, 1-0). Jim Obleda and Ron Lou scored for Villa Park.
In the Empire League:
Katella 5, Loara 0--Ryan Irving had two goals in his first game after recovering from a fractured ankle to lead visiting Katella (10-3-3, 1-0-1).
Cypress 1, Los Alamitos 0--Joey Chavez scored in the first half to lead visiting Cypress (11-1-3, 2-0).
Esperanza 3, El Dorado 1--Mike Voss, Mark Donaldson and Jason Wheeler each scored to lead visiting Esperanza (10-2-3, 2-0).
