Murad Muhammad filed a lawsuit against fellow boxing promoter Don King, asking in excess of $8 million.
The suit stems from heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s proposed fight against Canadian Razor Ruddock last November in Edmonton, Canada. Tyson pulled out because of illness. Muhammad handles Ruddock’s fights.
Tyson, who now is scheduled to fight Buster Douglas on Feb. 12 in Tokyo, is not named in the suit. Douglas’ fights also are promoted by King.
The suit seeks not only damages, but an injunction against King promoting Tyson fights until Ruddock has a title shot. The injunction would begin after the Tyson-Douglas fight.
