Nearly 200 posters honoring the life of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. are on display from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards.
The poster display, the work of school-age artists, begins a celebration that will include the creation of a living memorial to King with the planting of 390 Canary Island pine trees on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Friday.
In addition, the Afro-American Quilters of Los Angeles will present “Reflections of Our Heritage,” an exhibition of more than 100 handmade quilts, at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Jan. 19 to 21. More than 60 photographs of the Dance Theatre of Harlem also will be on display at the plaza until Feb. 4.
