WASHINGTON STATE : Rain Peppers Area, but Flooding Abates

Rain peppered the Pacific Northwest but not in the amounts that had plagued the area with floods for several days. The National Weather Service said the rain was no more than two-tenths of an inch at Olympia, Wash., and Ocean Shores, Wash. Four days of rain had forced thousands of residents to evacuate, accounting for at least six deaths in Washington and Oregon and prompting designation of disaster areas.
