A Palmdale youth died when his car drove off the Antelope Valley Freeway, became airborne and slammed into a river embankment, authorities said Sunday.
Andrew Miller, 17, might have fallen asleep as he drove from his girlfriend’s house in the San Fernando Valley to his home in Palmdale, said Officer Louis Pravettone of the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday but was not discovered until noon. A trucker stopped to check his load and saw Miller’s 1979 Honda near the Industrial Road over crossing of the freeway.
CHP Officer Eugene Jones said Miller’s car flew 150 feet before crashing into a river bank.
