ROUNDUP : Montclair Prep Bolts Past Miraleste, 60-40

Miraleste High brought only eight players but had three coaches on the sidelines in Tuesday night’s Alpha League game at Montclair Prep.
However, it must have taken a while before Miraleste Coach Todd Mirsky and his assistants were able to agree upon appropriate game strategy.
Maybe too long.
Montclair Prep built an 18-point lead midway through the second period and coasted to a 60-40 victory over the defending Alpha League champions. The Mounties raced to a 16-2 advantage by the 1:45 mark of the first period and never trailed.
“We played real sharp,” said Howard Abrams, who along with Bob Webb serves as co-coach of Montclair Prep. “Our defense was tough and our scoring was balanced. We’re playing to our maximum talent. We can’t play much better.”
Sophomore center Chris Sanger and Jason Shemtov led Montclair Prep (12-3, 5-0) with 15 points each. Sanger connected on seven of 11 attempts from the field and Shemtov made seven of 12.
Miraleste (8-9, 4-2) trailed at the half, 32-19, and closed to within nine points on three occasions but could get no closer.
