CenTrust Merger Canceled: CenTrust Bank, Florida’s largest savings and loan, said it is calling off a proposed merger with New York-based Ensign Bank because the two struggling thrifts were uncertain of government approval. But CenTrust said it plans to continue its attempt to gain regulatory approval for its proposed sale of 63 of its 71 branches to Great Western Bank of Beverly Hills.
