TONIGHT’S HIGHLIGHTS
WESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
NEW MEXICO (9-7, 1-3) at SAN DIEGO STATE (10-7, 2-2), 7:30 p.m.
TV--None. Radio--KFMB (760).
New Mexico is supposed to be one of the premiere teams in the WAC, but the Lobos are off to their first 1-3 conference start since 1981-82 after losses last week at Utah (79-60) and Brigham Young (79-78). The Lobos are led by 7-foot-2 center Luc Longley (18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game). He will be matched against Marty Dow, the Aztecs’ 7-1 center who is coming off his best back-to-back games of the season. He scored 40 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and shot 16 of 21 from the field and eight of 11 from the free-throw line in a 76-60 loss at Wyoming and a 72-68 victory at Air Force. Senior guard Michael Best should return after missing the Air Force game with a sprained ankle.
