Evans Quits at Doubleday; Rubin Will Be Publisher
- Share via
Nancy Evans resigned Thursday as president and publisher of Doubleday, a leading hard-cover publisher.
Evans is being succeeded by Stephen Rubin, publisher and editor-in-chief of Bantam Books, part of the Bantam Doubleday Dell group, as Doubleday’s new publisher and president.
No reason was given for Evans’ resignation, which sources close to her said was of her choosing.
A former editor-in-chief of the Book-of-the-Month Club, Evans joined the then-troubled Doubleday almost three years ago and oversaw a rejuvenation of its business.
A statement from Doubleday praised Evans and said she would make her plans known soon.
