Police Say Intruder Killed N. Hollywood Man in Apartment

A 64-year-old North Hollywood man was found dead in his apartment Saturday afternoon, apparently the victim of a burglar, police said.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was found in his first-floor apartment in the 11700 block of Kittridge Street shortly after 3 p.m., police said.

Detective Mike Coffey of the Los Angeles Police Department said the man died from a blow to the head.

Coffey said it appeared the man was killed when he surprised an intruder. He said a window had been pried open and the apartment had been ransacked.
