Restaurant Deal: Restaurant Associates Industries has sold a controlling interest to Kyotaru Co., one of Japan’s 10 largest restaurant companies, for an undisclosed amount. Restaurant Associates, based in New York, operates the Acapulco chain of 41 Mexican restaurants in California, Mamma Leone’s and the Brasserie in New York, plus other restaurants. Restaurant Associates’ management will continue to run the company and six of its key executives will retain “a substantial ownership interest,” the company said.
