Guillermina Byrne, an attorney and former city planning commissioner, was appointed Tuesday by the Board of Directors to the city’s Growth Management Task Force. She joins 12 others appointed last week to the 13-member task force, which, in cooperation with city planning staff members, will devise guidelines for Phase III of the city’s growth management initiative.
Those guidelines are expected to be completed in April for approval by the City Planning Commission and the Board of Directors.
The initiative, passed by voters last March, will limit construction to 250 residential units a year over the next 10 years. In addition, the initiative says that the combined annual footage of commercial projects larger than 25,000 square feet may not exceed 250,000 square feet.
