GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Rancho Alamitos Edges Kennedy

Shellie Tsuji made the front end of a one-and-one with four seconds left to give Rancho Alamitos a 73-72 victory over Kennedy in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Wednesday night.
Jenny Newsome led Rancho Alamitos (12-2, 7-1) with 25 points. Valerie Ruiz paced Kennedy with 26 points.
In other Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:
La Quinta 73, Pacifica 18--Playing without Amy Jalewalia, the team’s leading scorer who was benched for disciplinary reasons, La Quinta rolled on the road. Heather Brannan scored a career-high 37 points, along with 10 rebounds and seven assists, to lead La Quinta (17-2, 8-0). Jodi Cole added 14 points and Tanya Krill had 10 points and nine rebounds for the winners.
Garden Grove 53, Santiago 38--Melanie Dear scored 21 points and Stephanie Bowers added 10 for host Garden Grove (9-7, 5-3).
